As volleyball coaches and parents of
players, we're always looking for ways to teach our
kids to be more aggressive at the net. With younger
and first-time volleyball players, this can be a huge issue.
That's where the Spikr comes in. Coaches now have
an inexpensive device to help build confidence in all
players as they develop a consistent approach to the net, and
learn to attack the ball. What the tee did for baseball players,
The Spikr does for volleyball players.

What is it?

The Spikr is a volleyball hitting target. This training device is very similar to how a tee is used for young baseball players ... delivering stronger, more confident hits from a consistent, repeatable motion.

Why do I need it?

  • Better footwork
  • More confident approach
  • A solid, centered strike
  • A productive practice
(no bad sets to deal with)
  • Better results!

Made of a durable polyurethane material padded with hi-density foam, The Spikr's solid construction means coaches can use this one inexpensive device over and over for the entire team.

Coaches: This is a great practice tool!

You watched the video and you get the simple concept ... Get your younger players used to combining footwork with swinging hard at a target. Here's how to use the Spikr in practice:

  • Have your players who need more work get into a line.
  • The target needs to be high enough so that players actually have to jump,
and reach, to strike it. Shorter coaches may need to stand on something.
  • Depending on how you teach it it, have the first player take their three
(or four) step approach, swing their arms up, and strike the target HARD.
This is a great time to get over those timid arm swings.
  • Repeat with the next player in line.
  • This is a fun, useful drill that the kids will really enjoy. Go through the
rotation two or three times early in each practice, so everyone gets
    their shoulders loosened up.

A free gift you'll use!

In addition to receiving your Spikr, we're also including an e-book that every coach needs: "25 Volleyball Drills for Young Players." This informative, easy-to-follow manual gets your practices off to a productive start. Whether you're a brand new volleyball coach, or been at it for a few years, this guide takes the guesswork out of figuring which drills work, or how to execute them. Click on the page (at right) for a preview of what you'll find in this Spikr bonus gift.

Are there other devices out there?

Without a doubt. Truthfully, it all depends on your school, or team budget. If you can afford it, you'll find some terrific wall-mounted trainers that let you use an actual volleyball. They're well over $1,000 ... but they're great for repetitive spikes off live sets. Best-suited for more advanced players (after all, you'll want consistent sets).

There are other devices more similar to the Spikr, in that the ball (target) is stationary, letting the player focus more on footwork and ball-striking. Some even use an actual volleyball (right). Want to grab one for your school? Click on either photo to visit the actual web site.

All of these are fine solutions. We just feel the Spikr is better. Not only is it dead-simple to use, it's also the most cost-effective solution out there right now. Considering our tightening budgets, $30-$40 isn't much of a risk, especially when compared to products priced at $400, or $1000. And when you include a handy guide that'll make practices more productive, the Spikr wins hands-down, with (what else?) a straight-down kill shot!
